Torrens University’s Flinders Street Campus in Melbourne, Victoria, is a high-end education facility delivered through the refurbishment of a heritage-listed building in the heart of the CBD, designed to create a collaborative, technology-driven learning environment. The project transformed the ground and basement levels into a dynamic campus incorporating digital classrooms, auditorium spaces, hospitality training facilities, and public-facing areas, forming a central hub for innovation, education, and community engagement.

The architecturally led design, delivered by Cachet Group, was recognised within the industry and nominated for the Melbourne Design Awards, achieving award recognition in 2021 for its integration of heritage elements with contemporary educational spaces. The project required a high level of coordination to integrate advanced building services within an existing structure, while maintaining the architectural vision and functionality of a modern university environment.

EDSA Group was engaged as the electrical contractor to deliver the electrical light and power, data and communications, and dry fire systems for the project. The works involved detailed coordination across multiple learning and public spaces, ensuring seamless integration of services to support digital learning environments, specialist training areas, and high-traffic student zones. All systems were delivered in accordance with Australian Standards, with a strong focus on performance, compliance, and reliability within a live education setting.

Completed in July 2020, the Torrens University project demonstrates EDSA Group’s capability in delivering complex electrical and technology infrastructure within architecturally driven, high-performance education facilities. The outcome is a modern, award-recognised campus that supports innovation, collaboration, and long-term operational efficiency in Melbourne’s tertiary education sector.
